As a GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, Tirzepatide is a 39- amino-acid modified peptide with a C20 fatty diacid moiety that enables albumin binding and prolongs the half-life. Tirzepatide selectively binds to and activates both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, the targets for native GIP
and GLP-1. At therapeutic doses, it acts on centers in the brain and suppresses appetite. Used in conjunction with diet and exercise, Tirzepatide helps patients adhere to a reduced-calorie diet, enhancing the weight loss process.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Who qualifies for Medical Weight Loss?
This is determined by our Medical Team after reviewing your Health History. In general, our medical weight loss programs are for patients who need to lose >15lbs.
You are not eligible for our Medical Weight Loss Programs IF:
- have a history of pancreatitis
- medullary thyroid cancer
- gallbladder disease
- multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2
- Type 1 Diabetic
- Type 2 Diabetic already on a GLP-1 medication
- Chronic Kidney Disease
- Nursing, Pregnant, or trying to get pregnant
Is there a membership price?
No, we do not charge a membership price.
What is the Cost?
To establish care with our practice, it is $500. After that, our medical weight loss programs begin at $775 for Semaglutide and $995 for Tirzepatide. If you are an existing patient and have been seen recently, please contact us through the Patient Portal if you are interested in adding Medical Weight Loss.
What can I expect at my initial appointment?
At your Initial Consult, we will go over your health history and do a body composition analysis which includes muscle, fat mass, and visceral fat.
Which medication is more effective for weight loss?
Our patients are experience amazing results from both medications. However, in comparative head-to-head trials, Tirzepatide surpassed the HbA1c reduction of Semaglutide by an additional 24%. According to data from Phase III trial results in patients with type 2 diabetes, Tirzepatide was non-inferior and superior to Semaglutide with respect to the mean change in HbA1c from baseline to 40 weeks.
What are common side effects?
For both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide the most common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, headache, fatigue, dizziness, bloating, gas, and heartburn.
More serious side effects may include:
- Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
- Gallbladder problems
- Kidney problems/failure
- Serious allergic reactions

Do you take insurance?
At the Institute for Human Optimization, we are a private pay medical practice. We do not accept any public or private health insurance plans. Clients are solely responsible for the cost of the service.

Absolutely! We are a medical practice focused on health optimization and longevity so we are happy to go over your goals during your consult.
How will I receive the medication?
We ship all medications directly to your doorstep.
Are there refunds?
The Institute for Human Optimization offers goods and services that are irrevocable. Therefore, we do not issue refunds for any product or service that has been injected or used in your treatment. In consenting to be treated, it is important that clients understand and accept this condition. Peptide formulations are made for each individual patient. Once an order for peptides has been submitted and sent for compounding no refunds are available.
Is the injection painful?
No! We recommend an ultra-fine 31 gauge insulin syringe to minimize any pain and tissue trauma.
